چکیده
Background We present a case of Xanthogranulomatous pyelonephritis (XGPN) in a male child with renal vein thrombus extending into the inferior vena cava. This is a rare presentation. XGPN is a rare type of renal infection characterised by granulomatous inflammation with giant cells and foamy histiocytes. The peak incidence is in the sixth to seventh decade with a female predominance. XGPN is rare in children. A 11 year old male child presented with a history of high grade fever and chills for 15 days, right flank pain, progressive pyuria for two months and a history of vesical calculus. In our case, a subcapsular right nephrectomy was performed.

Awareness of the variation and renal vascular abnormality at retroperitoneal space surgeries such as kidney surgery and transplantation is very important and necessary. Complexity in the veins development of the kidney area of fetus leads to a series of changes in the production of these veins, including the extra kidney vein, and the posterior aorta vein. In this case report, we present a case...

Xanthogranulomatous pyelonephritis (XGP) is a chronic inflammatory process that results in replacement of renal and/or perirenal tissue with a diffuse infiltrate of inflammatory cells referred to as xanthoma cells. We present a case of a 49-year-old man with an incidentally discovered renal mass with inferior vena cava (IVC) thrombus, who was found intraoperatively to have a significant inflamm...
